Who is Grace? I have heard it was his wife/girlfriend that died.

Boy the things people say lol... Dave would have a very interesting life if all these rumore were true. Well there is one Grace in Dave's life, one of his twin daughters. Every other Grace he refers to in his songs is not actually a woman. It's more like a word he uses to describe women. Dave uses alot of metaphors in his songs, and this is one of them.
