Question
What is the song "Don't Drink that Water" about and are there any hidden meanings in it?

Answer
There is so much meaning to Don't Drink the Water I could write you a 10 page paper on it. However, I will spare you and just get to the important parts. It is about us invaiding the land that belonged to the Indians, treating them less than human and eventaully taking the land from them. "No room for both just room for me." That line right there sums up almost the whole point of the song. The line "Whats that you say your father spirit still lives in this place well I will silence you" That is saying how we didnt treat them like people and we showed no mercy. The don't drink the water theres blood in the water is in regards to how we just killed them and spilled their blood. If you go to http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dave-matthews-band/36490.html you can read the lyrics. Every line in that song talks about what happened to the Indians and I would just be a lot for me to go on and on about every line. I hope that helps you out Carly and certaintly if you need more information just let me know!
