Yes I was just curious what exactly does the dreaming tree represent???

Hey Lindsay!

Sorry for the late response, but I'm here to answer your question.  (computer died...it was sad)  To me, the Dreaming Tree represents hope or maybe something that you wanted and worked your whole life to get and now it's gone.

For the man in the song, it was an actual tree.  More than likely, he was raised way back in the day before the streets were paved.  And now, the city is coming into his area and they have to clear the land to make room for the new.  He sees the world he knew changing and it saddens him to no end.

As for the girl, that's where the hope and watching what you work for end comes into play.  To her the dreaming tree was a dream.  She wanted to be famous from the way it sounds and she got what she wished for, but it didn't agree with her.  It took her down a dark path that she didn't believe to exist.

I think that Dave sees this sort of thing happen all the time and he knows it's out there even if he doesn't see it.
