Dave Matthews Band/Grey Street

Question
What can you tell me about Grey Street? Is there any interesting details or story behind the song? How would you say this song is different than some of his other songs?

Answer
The story revolves around a girl trapped in a loveless relationship, similar to Pearl Jam's Better Man. Again, we see death references (cold blue ice) littered throughout the song.

The one interesting thing about the song is that after the 12.16.02 show he has removed one verse of the lyrics that went:

There's a stranger speaks outside her door
Says take what you can from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It'd take the work out of the courage
But she says, "Please
There's a crazy man that's creeping outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street and the end of the world"

The song is different because it is more of a dark song that has so much energy.  Similar song with the same chords are Tripping Billies which is very positive.
