Question
Hello, as most other dmb songs, I love Two Step...but, I'm not sure what the phrase "We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue" means. Can you tell me please? Thanks a lot!

Answer
Two Step is about a journey with a loved one sprinkled with Old Testament with New Testament references along the way. Originally, the stanza was, “Hey Helena” (and is sung like that on Crash although the printed lyrics say otherwise) instead of “Hey, My Love”. Speculation held that this “Helena” was a Greek reference. It's probably more accurate that the reference is to Constantine's (as in the Roman ruler who legalized Christianity) Mother, St. Helena, finder of numerous Christian artifacts (including the True Cross) and built Christian Churches in the Holy Land. That places more of a Christian lean on the song during earlier times, and one of the “loves” could be the religion itself, especially in earlier versions of the song that were not so touchy-feeley graphic.

"We're climbing two by two to be sure these days continue" means that you and a love one keep going to together and making the best of everyday.
