Dave Matthews Band/Unreleased recordings

Question
Andy,
Just wondering what the best way would be to come by Dave's unreleased stuff. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Answer
Hi David,

Since DMB is a trade-friendly band, all (or most) of their concerts have been recorded by fans, which means any song they've ever played in concert, whether it made an album or not, is available for the fans to hear if they can come by the recordings.

Back in the days of Napster, these songs were easy to come by on the file sharing service.  Now, it's likely they may still be found on whatever file sharing services still function (since the material is uncopyrighted, all MP3s of these live recordings are legal).

Another great way to find full concerts and individual songs are by looking on the fansites www.antsmarching.org and www.nancies.org .  Antsmarching.org operates a server (which is currently down, and hsa been for a while), but also coordinates FTP servers full of concerts.  At these sites you can also request "B&Ps" (one-way trades in which a fan offers to burn you copies of CDs he or she has, if you send blank discs and return postage).

Hope this helps!
Andy
