how do you interpret the meaning of "big eyed fish?"

Hi Ben,

It would seem to me that Big Eyed Fish is a song warning against stretching yourself too far or being something you're not.  The verses deal with a man, a monkey, and a fish who decide to do something considerably out of the ordinary (stop breathing, abandon the jungle for the city, and leave the ocean for the shore, respectively), all with disastrous consequences.

As with all of Dave's songs though, interpretation is entirely subjective and sometimes Dave writes things without having any specific intention in mind.
