Dave Matthews Band/dmb coming to memphis?

Question
Is there any chance DMB might come to Memphis, Tennessee? I remember once they came in 94, but I can't remember any other times since. Memphis is the largest town in Tennessee, and is a huge music city. It seems like DMB would come here eventually...

Answer
Hi Zach,

The last time DMB were in Memphis was in 2001, for the Beale Street Music Festival, but that was a shortened set to accomodate more acts at the festival.  The last time they played their own evening concert was in 1999 at the Pyramid Arena.  They haven't played in Knoxville since 2001 either.

I think the reason they haven't been there lately is that they've generally been focusing on larger outdoor amphitheaters for the last few years, so they've looked more to places like Starwood Amphitheater outside Nashville, and the UMB Bank Pavilion in the St. Louis area.

You may be surprised to find out that DMB recorded one of their first album demos in Memphis at Ardent Studios!  This was back in 1992 before their first "actual" album, Remember Two Things was recorded (partially in a Virginia studio, partially at live performances in Virginia and Rhode Island).

I'm sure they'll be back sometime.  In the meantime, they've been coming to Nashville every summer.

Hope this helps,
Andy
