What does the song halloween mean? Ive heard its symbolic of a breakup with an ex girlfriend maybe?

This song is believed to be written after Julia Grey. A longtime girlfriend of Daves who he proposed to three times! But unfortunatley she also turned him down all three times! The name however seems to have been derived from its debut date on October 31, 1992 rather than its lyrics. Ironically that is the same day that he met his wife Ashley Harper. He has also stated that the whole situation with Grey worked out for the best because now they are really good friends. Hope this helped!
