Deafness/Hearing Impairment - Menieres

Expert: Harriet Jacobster, Au.D. - 10/18/2008

Question
I was diagnosed with Menieres about 15 years ago.I have all the symptoms related to this disease, so I won't bore you with the details. What makes me crazy, (and sad) is that I also have RA. I know they are both auto immune diseases. I was always healthy my entire life and want to know what the heck has happened to my immune system? To have two auto immune diseases, feels like my body is screaming at me to change something! Diet? Disposition? Sometimes I think my body has broken down because of my sadness I have had throughout my life. Not depression; this is too strong. Life's been a struggle and I think sometimes that the constant fight can create chaos within.
I am 54 years old, female, mother of three.
Thank you.

Answer
Hello Pamela,
There is an amazing connection between the mind and the body.  With all that you have said, I can only make this suggestion:  you need to see a physiatrist regarding your physical ailments and a psychiatrist for your emotional ones. Together they will work to help you with your struggles.
Hope this helps.
