Expert: Eric P. Wilkinson, MD Date: 3/29/2008 Subject: otorrhea
Question hello. i am not sure if this is the right place for this question but i couldn't find
any other suited expert. My grandfather is hard of hearing and he is half deaf.
he has recently started to experience otorrhea and the discharge is a dark/black
liquid. could this be caused from Chronic otitis media?
Answer This could be as simple as ear wax, or more complex such as drainage from a cholesterol granuloma-type cyst. He should be seen by an ENT specialist for a full exam.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
