Deafness/Hearing Impairment - deAFNESS

Expert: Dr. Jerry Martin Jr. - 8/1/2008

Question
WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF DEAFNESS IN INFANTS???   DOES TINNITIS IMPROVE WITH IMPROVEMENT IN HEARING LOSS??   THANKS

Answer
Hi Rabia,

There are few main causes of deafness.

1. Born with dead nerves (full hearing loss) - Totally Deaf.

2. Deafness can be caused with certain diseases, German Measles, serious ear infections, and etc.

3. Gradually hearing loss due to loud noises or ear drums are damaged.

Tintitus does have nothing do with hearing at all, it is do with fluids or nerves and, etc.  If you have that, go see Ear/Nose, and Throat Specialist for further evaluation.

For more information about Tintitus.  Here is a website link.  Copy and paste in address bar.
