AboutDr. Jerry Martin Jr. Expertise I am deaf myself and I do know what is like as a deaf person, how we communicate on the different levels (Reading Lips, American Sign Language, English Sign Language and etc.).
I will be able to provide you advice about this topic from range childhood to adulthood. Please do understand that I will not give you any advice regards medication because I am not a medical doctor.
Experience
Past/Present clients I had has worked with both deaf and hearing clients (Children and Adults) in the past 20 years.
Question I have been totally deaf in my left ear, since having a severe bout of Acute Laborinthitis (?)in 1959. The result of this is there is no hearing (either via canal or conduction) on the left side. I have been told by audiologists in the past there is nothing that can be done via surgery, etc to change it. However, years ago, I found a pair of very heavy framed eyeglasses that would take the sounds from my left side (via a microphone)and by wire transmit the sound to the right side, where by conduction I was able to hear whispers coming from my left side. It was pretty amazing but the glasses were just too heavy.
Today, with modern technology, I would think there would be more usable adaptations for this. I am looking for glasses that the ear piece on the left would have a microphone and transmitter, strong enough to transmit the sound to the earpiece on the right side without wires! Then that sound would again be transimitted to the right ear via conduction.
Is there a company that has developed something for this. I have not spotted anything in my search.
Thanks,
B.
Answer Hi,
I know some hearing aids that changes technology over the years however, I did not find anything like you were looking for? You can try to check with "ent" ear, nose, and throat doctor specialist, maybe doctor will know about it.
