Question From an event that happened last week, it has brought me to a question. I was babysitting for my supervisors youngest kid last wednesday. His middle child got sick at school and he had to go pick her up. I had to go with him because in order for him to get inside the school, there is an intercom. My supervisor is profoundly deaf. He talks, and can read lips, but cannot understand speech. This intercom system is a road block for him, if not for me, It would habve been harder for him to get into the school. Which leads me to my question. What are business, and schools doing to better improve the communication for a hearing impaired person?
Answer Hi Lisa,
Yes I understand what your talking about. If there are many deaf parents, then board of education will handle to have someone to install a small video next to intercom system, It will solve problem for your supervisor. It doesn't cost that much abt 100 to 200 dollars.
If a local Board of Education will not do it, then urge to ask State Board of Education and remind about ADA law.
