Question
Hello Dr. Martin,
I have a very dear friend who has had trouble hearing all of her life.  She has been examined by several doctors and they all tell her something different.  She has at times told me that her ear will "pop" and she can hear clearly only to lose it soon after.  Like allergies or something.  Could that be part of her problem?  What do you think?
Thanks alot!
Amanda

Answer
Hi Amanda,

I can't answer this question because I am no ear specialist.  I am just a doctor with a degree in Education and Psychology.  I am deaf myself.

It is good idea to consult with other ear specialist himself or herself who is a university professor. It may help because they are ones who are trained in modern medicine unlike old doctors don't have this training.

Good luck.

Dr. Martin
