Question QUESTION: Hey hey hey my name is Vinny and I am 17 years old. I am currently dating this girl named Bridget and I believe we need some help in our current relationship. We've been dating for 3 months and 8 days now. We spend a lot of time together and always talk on the phone or through the computer. Our problem is lately things having really been going bad. A couple of weeks ago she was afraid to tell me she had a little crush on another guy she was always texting, but when I finally got her to tell me what was going on she said she was falling for him even though she really loves me and she was confused why she was getting attracted to him. She said she was afraid to tell me cause she thought I was gonna leave her. She says she loves me and I do everything right and always make her happy but she was confused. I later found out the kid she was texting all the time didn't have a lot of friends and he had a deformed arm. So I told her she probably felt bad for the kid and always texting him ended up building a friendship for them. That was our first problem then last week we were making plans to go to my house to hang and our plans got ruined by an unexpected event, but you see this isn't the first time our plans always get messed up sometimes we always have to reschedule and wait a couple extra days before doing what we had planned. It really gets her upset cause then she gets her hopes up to hang out with me then we discover we can't and we both get disappointed. Then this week my old girlfriend started messaging me on Facebook saying she wanted to get back together with me. It made Bridget pretty upset and now she is afraid of losing me even though I told her I only love her and I am not leaving her, but she doesn't seem to believe me and she thinks are relationship is falling apart and I don't wanna think that but it seems kind of weird how shit keeps happening. Can you please help us.

QUESTION: Well I guess what I am trying to ask is how can I stop my relationship from falling apart? As you can see things keep happening and I feel its starting to affect our relationship and I just need some tips on keeping our relationship close.
Answer Thanks, Vinny.
One way to keep your relationship close is to change things up a bit. Right now you spend a lot of time talking via phone or computer. Meet somewhere and have conversations face to face, give her a chance to see in your eyes how much you care about her. Take her places...even if it's just a walk through the park or the mall. Make an effort to spend quality time with her. You've already talked to your girlfriend how you feel, now show her. If none of the above strategies work, maybe spend some time apart.
I want you to keep in mind that when you are in a serious relationship at such a young age, although your goal is to stay together for a long time, it does not always work out that way. I am not trying to discourage you from hanging on to your girlfriend, but sometimes relationships need space. There's an old saying, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". If you spend time apart it might make you realize how much you want to be together. At your age, love can be very confusing. Sometimes love can get confused with lust or friendship.
Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions!
