How to Deal with Jealousy/How to Make One Jealous - jealous co-worker

Expert: PracticalHappiness.com - 11/12/2007

Question
Over the past few months there is a co-worker who has been spilling vicious rumors about me, trying to make me appear as though I'm the jealous, don't want to do any work, and overall tries to defame my character.  Other co-workers have asked her why she does what she does and her answers were she "just trying to test me."  Many times I've tried to talk to her to only see that she'll avoid me.  What can I do to make her stop.

Answer
Hi, Kenya. One way to handle this is to have an in-person, heart to heart conversation with her where you don't accuse her of anything, but simply tell her that you want to do a good job and ask her if there is something about you that bothers her. Encourage her to be open and honest with you. If this doesn't work, talk to the manager / supervisor who is in charge and make sure you document every incident of the kind.

Thanks,

A.I.
