How to Deal with Sex Problems - Irregular Ejaculation

Expert: Pete - 5/24/2009

Question
I have issues with ejaculation/sexual climax. There are sometimes where i can ejaculate quite quickly, then there are other times where i have to stop due to complete exhaustion. I have read that some issues in this area can be caused by antidepressants. I am currently taking an antidepressant daily. Could this be my problem?
My partner gets very upset when I don't climax and believes its because I'm not attracted to her. I don't believe this is the case, I very much enjoy sex with her and am very sexually attracted to her.
Is this just normal? Am I just unfit? Should I see a doctor and possibly take the path of another antidepressant?

Answer
Hi Michael

Thanks for sharing with me.

It does sound to me as if the antidepressants could be part of the issue.

You should have a chat with your GP and see if there is another medication you could try.

Reassure your partner it has nothing to do with your love of her etc.

Just remember that treatment for PE should always include some form of counselling.

I wish you well

Pete
