How to Deal with Sex Problems - ejaculation

Expert: John Thai, MD - 6/9/2007

Question
when i have sex with my wife i have an orgasm (i think) but no or little ejaculation. Can I take something for more ejaculation?"

Answer
Hi Ron,

You did not state whether you were able to ejaculate in the past. The fluid in the ejaculate is the "semen" which is produced by the prostate gland. It is not uncommon to hear men complaining of this issue, which may be related to a medical illness or psychological problem or sometimes both.

Medical illnesses that may cause such a problem include problems relating to the prostate gland, diabetes, high blood pressure, damage to the blood vessels, hormonal imbalance, or bladder/prostate sugery.

Psychological issues include, but not limited to, daily uncontrollable stress, anger, guilt due to sexual performance experiences, anxieties, etc.

I would definitely recommend that you schedule an appointment with your physician for a referral to a urologist for an evaluation. He/She will determine what is the best next step for you.

Regards,

John T, MD
