I am interested in the relationship between nutrition and behaviour, and as a Probation ans Parole Officer facilitated groups for offenders, many of whom were alcoholics and drug addicts, sex offenders or compulsive gamblers, as well as the whole gamut of “personality disorders”.

Question i am fat, 46 years old, have 0 self-esteem, unhealthy with diabetes, high cholesterol, and med-high hypertension, depressed to where i have stopped working, am in foreclosure, divorced, 5 foot tall, 223 pounds, and am very stressed out to the point i have thought about suicide. but, please do not let that alarm you, because i could never do that. i would not want to hurt my family. i am a people pleaser and i give, give, give. what do u think i need to do first to get out of this predicament?? so much to bear!!!!! i do not want to take antidepressants anymore!!
i heard they tend to make people fat. i started getting fat 20 years ago and started on prozac around that time. help me!
Answer With you height and weight you are definitely obese. Obesity and depression usually go together because both share a common problem, namely insulin resistance. This may look pretty hopeless, nevertheless something can be done. This is confirmed because you are also diabetcic. Please read:

and in addition, ask for a referral to a Nutritional Doctor, a Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist.
