Subject: loosing my sharpness

Question
Hello Patricia,

I am 26 and am stuck with a job in a reputed company(in Fortune list of top 20)  but it is doing no good for me. I spend my whole days sitting at the computer and having almost no work. I have almost started loosing my shaprness. And that has now started depressing me. :-( Due to some personal reasons, I cannot quit this job for atleast next 4 months. Can you advise if there's any way to keep my brain from Rusting Away and avoid depression?

Thanks
Mihir

Answer
Hi Mihir:

I know what you mean about loosing your sharpness when you are bored. Also the days seems to drag and feels soooooooooo long. So, how to get your mind going. Here are some thoughts:

Can you ask for more work to do?

Can you ask for a transfer to another department where there is more work?

Can you go to human resources and let them know the situation and they may be able to help?

When you have no work, can you start looking up other jobs on line so that at the end of the 4 months you will have a job to go to?

Hopefully these ideas will help you out.

Take care,

Pat
