Answer
Hello jill,

This is a difficult situation. I get the impression that you are suffering from depression and this is not always "psychological" but could be biological. For instance, it is not always possible to build up self-confidence when the body suffers from a metabolic disorder that prevents the manufacture of feel good neurotransmitters. A metabolic disorder can cause the body be bombarded with unnecessary stress hormones.

Thus we need to look at both the biological and the psychological angle. First we need to get rid of the depression, which is mostly biological. Please read:

Depression is a Nutritional Disorder at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/depression_disorder.html

This can most be beaten by going on a hypoglycemic diet.

Since you have been hurt in the past by a previous relationship it may pay to read:

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Hypoglycemia at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/PTStress.html

Treatment of a Low Self-Esteem at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/psychotherapy/TOLSE.html

Then read:

Self-help Personal Growth Psychotherapy at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/self-help_personal_growth.html and

especially the section dealing with "Psychotherapy".

You can educate yourself out of depression by nutritional means and also by retraining the mind by mental exercises.

Nevertheless if you strike any problems with the program please contact a Nutritional Doctor, A Clinical Psychologist or a Nutritional Psychologist.
