Expert: Jurriaan Plesman, Nutritional Psychologist - 11/3/2009
Question I was diagnosed with major depression back in January 09. Since then I haven't been able to live the life that I use to.
I graduated from university in 2006, in the first division of my class. I have always been someone that needed to work hard to achieve what I wanted. But always managed to get to where I wanted.
I worked 3 years doing nursing. A stressful job, but a job I loved doing. and did well at.
I had to leave my job in january because I felt like I was lacking concentration at work.
And since then I feel like I have lost all brain capacity to work the job I use to do or any other jobs. I tried returning to a similar job in september. My new employer soon realized that I wasn't up to the challenge and I lost my employment.
I am now feeling lost. A very low self-eesteem... don't know where to work since I feel like I can't function like I use to.
I feel so dissapointed in myself. And I am scared that I'll ended up working a minimum paying job at Tim Horton ( if i can even do that )
Everything brings me crazy anxiety. I feel a bit like a broken doll...
I need a bit of help or direction...
Answer Hi Tan,
I have a feeling that you are suffering from hypoglycemia, which can cause to feel depressed, a low self-esteem and lacking energy and concentration.
Please familiarize your yourself:
What is Hypoglycemia at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/what_is_hypo.html
The Serotonin Connection at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/serotonin_connection.html
Depression is a Nutritional Disorder at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/depression_disorder.html
Depression: a Disease of Energy Production at:
http://curezone.com/upload/PDF/Articles/jurplesman/depression_energy3.pdf
and ask for a referral to a Nutritional Doctor, Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist, if self-help therapy fails.
Going on a hypoglycemic diet is the first step in treatment.
