Dealing with Depression - My husband is depressed

Expert: Patricia A. Schafer, PCC-S, NCC, LICDC - 2/4/2007

Question
Hi. My husband is depressed and is having trouble sleeping. Losing interest in activities that he has always loved. And feeling numb towards me. When he gets on his medication, how long will it take for him to feel normal agian.

Answer
Hi Chasity:  He may notice, and you will too, improvement within one two 2 weeks is about the average. Everyone is different and it may take longer. I strongly suggest that if there is no difference in 2 weeks, to call the doctor to find out if it takes longer for the type of medication he is taking.

Pat
