Dealing with Employees/Management book?

Hello and “Thanks” for replying.
I will be taking a position with a new company as an overall operations manager. It will be my duties to oversee employees (8) and manage the training progress of all of the students (this is a truck driver training school). My main focus will be in putting out daily fires such as; scheduling conflicts, employee pouts, expectations unmet, etc. Is there a concise book that would be worthy of your recommendation and my reading?

Probably the best book I've found on this subject is called "Skill with People," by Les Giblin.  It's hard to find, but you might find a copy on Amazon's used book section.  It is great because it is only about 40 pages and gives great "Human Insights" -- what drives people, etc.

Other books that are some of my favorites are "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie and Giblin has another book called "How to Have Confidence and Power in Dealing with People."

Look around for the first one before falling back on the other two though.
