Question
For too many months I have had much stress and anxiety (full time single dad, Teenager challenges, too much work, housekeeping, financial difficulties etc.) Over the course of the last three months though, I have been experiencing this "soup can" feeling (like I need to get my ears to pop), and along with all this, a pressure in my head. I'm not experiencing headache type pain. Through the day, it becomes progressively worse. At times I HAVE to just stop and lay down and rest; though I totally don't feel tired..? I'm assuming its just overwhelmed and overworking. I'm trying to increase the amount of sleep I'm getting. So far that hasn't seemed to help. Any advice or information would really be appreciated. I don't want to go on with this pressure feeling like my head is going to explode. Hope I've explained this decently well. I'm 44 years old, exercise 3 4 times per week, and in good condition otherwise.

Answer
Hi Robert,

If you havn't yet tried HPP Ericksonian hypnosis programs, then they are always worth a try. Very hard NOT to let go when you use them.

Other clients I have had, who have had trouble letting go, and have used other hypnosis tapes -  have commented that the HPP series have been the one program which has helped them really relax and let go.  Maybe it would be the same for you too.

Hope this is helpful.

Warm regards,

James

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your question, and I think you have explained yourself perfectly well.

Clearly your body is not coping well with where you are right now.  Likely you have too much to do,- managing children on your own is particularly stressful.

These symptoms are simply the bodies way of telling you to slow down a little.

Having to lie down and rest is our body and minds natural way of trying to adjust the balence, and help you recover. If you donīt take enough rest - your body will force you to rest, by making you sleep for longer periods.

There comes a time when it really is worth listening to what our bodies and mind tell us - in other words, slow down and make some changes.

There are a few things you can do which will help;-

Get more rest if you can - this really is important.

Find someone who you feel you can talk through your  difficulties, a friend or relative.  If you are unable to do that, then see if you can find a counsellor or therapist who can help you relieve some of your stress. And steer you in the right direction for lowering your child care commmitments.

It's great that you are exercising regularly - this will definitely help.

Get a good self hypnosis CD or Tape, designed for stress reduction.  There are many on the net if you do a search, or you might like to look at mine at -  www.hypnosistapes-and-cds.com

I have a specific program for stress relief - Changing Emotinons/Stress management which will help.

Having got it, make time, every day for half an hour or so to sit down and listen to your tape.

Find another outside activity which helps reduce your stress even more - ie; more exercise, yoga classes, relaxation classes, tai chi classes, whatever you think will work better for you.

Find an activity which also makes you feel good - watching a good movie, a long soak in a bath, a walk in the park, a visit to a good friend.  Take some time to do something like this every couple of days.

If in spite of trying some or all of these you feel no change,  or little change, then it may be worth talking to your Doctor or Medical advisor, telling them how you feel.  If they think it is possible you are suffering from too much stress they may refer you on, and perhaps offer specific treatments which will help.

I hope this is helpful, if there is anything else you need, just let me know.

Warm  regards,

James
