Answer
Hi Vikram,

You might be experiencing a panic attack. I am not an expert at that but I know that the symptoms feel very REAL.

Now what I do is work with the thoughts that are causing this anxiety. What is going through your head right before you are experiencing this anxiety? I am guessing it could be something like:

Something terrible is going to happen.
I will die.
This is bad.
I don't know what to do.
This shouldn't be happening.

Thoughts lead to feelings and feelings lead to actions and actions to result. That's good news because it means it's not the outside circumstances or other people that cause us stress. When we question what we believe, we meet these thoughts with understanding, as opposed to hate and trying to make them go away. I have never been able to make my thoughts stop by screaming and yelling at me or by telling myself I shouldn't think/feel this way. But When I question my thoughts they let go off me.

One tool I use to question my thoughts is The Work of Byron Katie.

You can find out more about the process here:

www.TheWork.com

The Work are 4 questions and a turnaround. Thousands of people use it all over the world and find peace and calm by going inside to answer these questions.

Here you find written examples of 'The Work':

www.TheWorkForBreakfast.com

And if you go to www.YouTube.com and search for The Work of Byron Katie you'll see Katie guiding people through all kinds of stress, anxiety and problems.

Vikram, I wish you all the best and I hope that my answer was of help to you.

Christine
