Question
Hi there,
I 'm Abhishek.i'm 21 years of age.i've been very sensitive emotionally and a kind of a negative thinker as well.somehow i've been able to overcome my sensitive/negative behaviour .my problem is that i very often feel stressed out and depressed for no reason.its totally irrational and unreasonable.i tend to get tensed without any actual reason. specially about my health i get over possesive cause once i was very thin and people used to make fun of mine.but then i worked harder and turned physically strong and healthy.but now due to this stress, thoughts of getting thin and lean again often make me depressed.plz suggest me how not to get over possesive for anything in life.does exercise helps in it?

Answer
Hi abhishek,

What you seem to be describing is a lack of confidence in yourself and your appearance.

When you worry excessively about anything it will cause high levels of stress.

Exercise on a regular basis is one activity which has been shown to be an excellent stress reducer.  If you can find time to exercise three or four times a week this will help.

Learning relaxation techniques or self hypnosis both to reduce your stress and rebuild your confidence will help as well.

There are many excellent self hypnosis tapes available on the net, or you may like to look at mine at:

www.hypnosistapes-and-cds.com

I have one specifically for rebuilding self confidence - Personal Ecology/Self Esteem.

Finding a friend or family member to talk to about how you feel can be a real comfort.

If you find after trying these techniques for a month or so and you still seem to be having difficulty with these thoughts and feelings of depression, then talking to your medical practitioner, and explaining how you feel will enable useful and helpful guidance or perhaps prescription medication which may help.

I hope this is helpful, let me know if you need anything else.

Warm regards,

James
