Subject: Pitch or SAP seeping through wood

Question
I just replaced my stairs with pressure treated decking.  I painted them using Cabot primer and Valspar porch and deck enamel (Latex).  I am noticing that the pitch or sap is coming up through the paint and primer in several small spots.  Can you recommend any way to get rid of the seepage or should I just replace the whole boards that are causing problems?

Answer
Hello Steve, Although I am not a painter, every painter that I have spoken to about this exact problem says that you have to use a oil based primer on all pressure treated wood. The Tannins in the wood , especially in knotted areas seep through causing darker areas than others. As far as putting oil base primer over the latex that,  I would ask a paint supplier about. Hope this helps
