Decks/Fall Sealing A Deck

Question
Hello Drew,

I waited a bit long this year to seal my deck and the leaves have started falling. Will problems be caused if I begin sealing the deck and leaves fall onto it during the drying time? I plan on using the Thompson Clear Deck Sealer.

Best,

Buddy

Answer
Leaves should not be an issue but the fewer that fall the better. I would not recommend a Thompson sealer, especially a clear one, as it will offer very little protection for your wood. Try and go with a penetrating oil-based treatment that will be easily maintainable.
