Decks/deck support

Question
I am building a deck that's 18' long and 15' from the house, the deck is anchored to the house. how many piers do I need to properly support this deck?

Answer
Thanks for the question Hawk. A 15' deck with only outside posts for support as opposed to using a "shaker beam" needs to be evenly spaced at 6' centers with a double band on the outside at 18' in length.Total 4 posts. Use 6x6 for supports. Even with a shaker installed you still want 4 posts. I would also recommend using 2x10 as joists. Hope this helps. Thanks
