Question
I live in a bi-level home and the living room and dining room are all together on the same level.  The room is long and rectangular. My question is regarding the wood stain. I have a whitewash dining room and I am looking for a tv console/stand for my television for the living room.It is really hard to find a console in the whitewash wood. Do you have any suggestions as to what other type of wood stain would go with the whitewash. My coffee tables and end table are a glass/stone combination. Please help. I'm really confused as to what would look good with the whitewash.  I'm even considering going with a darker wood. Would that look strange?  I'm willing to change out my coffee table and
end table to match to tv console.

Answer

wood stain
Hi Ursula, A rustic light grey wood stain will look best next to the whitewash (see attached photo) Using this colour will also allow you to keep your existing tables and won't create too much of a contrast next to the whitewashed wood.

I also offer an 'Ask the Decorator' service on my website. I would be happy to be of further assistance to you if needed.
Thank you, for your time.
