Decorating & Furniture/stain vs painting

We are updating our 30 year old home.  We are putting in new
crown molding, door frames and base boards.  Cypress...
question:  Can I use stained molding on the doors and paint
them white??  It's for a hallway, 5 doors.

Hi Darlene,

Thanks for your question. The short answer is that you "can" use stained molding with painted white doors, but from a design standpoint, it's best to have all your moldings and doors/frames match.

It's your home.  It's your choice. If you're considering re-selling your home, make them match before you list it.

College, advertising, public relations, marketing, free-lance writing and a plethora of creative endeavors have led me here. As an entrepreneur in decorative product design, I learned the hard way how tough it can be to be in business for yourself. A stint at a law firm taught me humility too. Some three thousand questions ago, I wondered if I could really help. Obviously, I'm still here and still taking your questions. God Bless You!
