Question
we have built a new house and have a vaulted ceiling in the 6mx6m lounge, dressed in soft wood. I would like to get a contemportary limed, streaky finish showing the wood grain slightly. However, we have painted it with a white wash and it looks boring - can you suggest a particular sort of paint that will give the desired effect. Many thanks.

Answer
Hi Pamela,

White washing should have done the trick.  You may want to do a faux paint treatment over top of the white wash in a pale, mudddy brown shade to streak the finish.  If you opt to rag it on, make sure the brown paint is thinned so that it is more of a wash or glaze than a paint.

Thanks for choosing me as your expert, and best of luck on your paint project.
