Decorating & Furniture/Baseboard colors

Question
Hi Alicia,
I have just decided to install new carpeting. The old carpeting was an oatmeal color berber, so the "white" baseboards were not an issue. However the new carpeting is a patterned dark cherrywood brown, so the baseboards are definately going to pop. They're not beautiful baseboards,so I don't want to draw attention to them.I am thinking about painting the baseboards the same cork color as the walls, I don't want it to look like I am tryng cover them up, or go cheap. Perhaps a semi gloss? Am I on the right track?

Answer
Hello Yolanda,
Why not apply a "Washed glazed" affect on the cork color baseboards?  Use the same kind of glazing technique and liquid used for a wall application.  This gives you a tone on tone application that looks like a lighter tone wood "washed with darker umber" and would contrast nicely with your dark cherry-brown floor!

Good Luck,
