Decorating & Furniture/Black Furniture

Question
I have nice leather black furniture and wanted to dress up the living room a bit.  I will have a pretty nice clean slate.  What ideas do you have for me to keep the room light? Quite a bit of my accent pieces are light wood or bamboo material.  I need to know what kind of end tables to get, or do I go with the new A-Frame bookshelves?
Lori

Answer
Hello Lori,
First, make sure you PAINT!  :=)  Try wall colors of pale  beige, beige/khaki or warm yellow-cream with the purpose of  really allowing your bamboo furnishings and black sofa to stand out dramatically.  I love the A-Frame bookshelves...go for it!

Keep it light by doing exactly what you're doing...maintaining "openess" without adding heavy furniture. The open shelving, rattan baskets, accent tables and lots of pillows should do it!

Good Luck,
