Question
Hello,
I am moving into a new townhouse and will be putting in natural horizontal bamboo floors.  I currently own a very large, very light green couch with thick but straight lines.  I'd like to go for a kind of modern mid century look and am having trouble visualizing a wall color.  My thoughts have been a bright orange, but I am concerned that it will be overwhelming.  The space is not extremely large (approx 400 sq. feet) and has about 9 ft. ceilings.  What do you suggest?

Answer
Thanks for writing and for your question.  Since the bamboo floor will be light brown and the sofa is light green, use a shade of red.  While bright orange is in the red family, you may be happier with a cranberry shade (more blue, less yellow).

Regards,
Jenny
