Question
Rachel,

Can you help with any ideas/suggestions for a baby girl's room?  Doing a chair rail with two differnt colors of paing in some hue of pink on the bottom and perrywinkle seems pretty unimaginative.  Any ideas for paint schemes or trim ideas (chair rail, wainscoat, crown, etc..).  Something not extremely expensive but that woiuld be very "girly" yet provide something a little original and not overly complicated for a "weekend warrior"  Thanks very much!

Answer
If you do decide to have a chair rail then my best advice to give you is to have the color on the bottom of the wall darker then the top. This is more comfortable to the eye. You probably should go with neutral colors so the room feels more calm for the baby to sleep. I would suggest keeping the baseboard, chair rail and crown molding white. Do you have any bedding, curtains or artwork that you would like to incorporate? Picking colors from these objects may help to choose what colors to use. Here are some picture links that might bring you inspiration.
