Decorating & Furniture/Dorm Room De'cor

Question
I'll be moving into a guy's dorm this fall at college.  To put it bluntly, I'm not your average guy and I actually care about how my room looks.  I have a theme I'd like to try out on my dorm room, 1920's (Think Speakeasies, Art Deco, early Hollywood and you're thinking what I am).  I want to do black, red, and chrome (and I know those colors were used).  Are there other colors I should try?  And what suggestions can you give when decorating, especially patterns, furniture, mirrors/clocks/wall decor?

Answer
Nick:

Well there were blues used as well as greens.

I would suggest this them to start and finish one area and concentrate on being organized as well so not to much clutter looses a theme as well.

Patterns were allot of circles, mirrors well with lots of color, clocks were larger then  timepeices. Furniture was large and bulky.

Thanks
Jean
