Decorating & Furniture/Drapes

My new home is about finished and I'm shopping for drapery for the living room.  The walls are a soft biege color with a light tan for the carpets.  The sofa is a floral print with tan, light green and a cranberry color.  I also have two cranberry color glass lamps I will be using.  Will cranberry or ruby color sheer drapes be to shocking?

Your walls and carpet are "virtually" white, so yes, the cranberry or ruby will create a lot of contrast.  I'd probably use the green (pick up the color from your couch) for the draperies and add some life to the room with cranberry accents; i.e., candles, throw pillows etc.

It's not a "shock" as much as contrast.  If your walls were a darker shade, I'd highly recommend the cranberry.

Visit my web site at: Decor: I've written about it, planned it, designed it and colored it, and I've never stopped loving it. It's not what you spend, or who made it, it's how it makes you feel.

College, advertising, public relations, marketing, free-lance writing and a plethora of creative endeavors have led me here. As an entrepreneur in decorative product design, I learned the hard way how tough it can be to be in business for yourself. A stint at a law firm taught me humility too. Some three thousand questions ago, I wondered if I could really help. Obviously, I'm still here and still taking your questions. God Bless You!
