Decorating & Furniture/Exterior paint color

Question
HI Jenny,
We are renovating a 1913 four square in Annapolis, MD and recently met with a designer who suggested black (with some sort of grey or neutral trim) as the exterior paint color.
Have you seen houses painted black? What do you think of this suggestion? The interior of the house will be more modern with dark ebonized hardwoods and light walls and contemporary furniture and trim.
Than you in advance

Answer
I honestly have not seen this type of color treatment for a home.  I would probably recommend a rich dark color for outside, but probably would not urge you to go black.  Darker is more modern, but I think black is a bit more extreme than my tastes.  It's your house.........if you want it black, so be it.

Regards,
Jenny
