Decorating & Furniture/rug placement under sectional sofa
I just moved into a new one bedroom in NYC. It is pretty small. I
purchase a sectional couch and a coffee table. I am looking for a
rug to go underneath the coffee table but am confused. I found
a rug with a bold border which I love but the available sizes pose
some questions. The 3'6"x 5'6" leaves some floor space around
the rug (it does not go underneath the couch) but the floor
space is not even on each side of the sectional and the coffee
table will not be exactly centered to the rug. The 5'3"x8'3" goes
underneath both sides of the sectional couch and the coffee
table will still not be centered but it will not be noticeable. Which
size do you suggest I get?
I personally am particularly picky about rugs for a space. They should appear to anchor the furnishings sitting on them. So...I suggest you shop a bit more and find the PERFECT rug.
If you're on a budget here's a tip: Lowe's and Home Depot, Home Goods and other discount stores have great prices and a nice selection of rugs. Lowe's was so good, I bought one for a client when I last visited. These stores should also have a variety of styles which may work in your space.
Go larger...the perfect size will anchor the sofa and also highlight the coffe table!
