Decorating & Furniture/working with burgandy and black

Hello Jenny

I am hoping you can give me some advice on choice of wall and carpet coloring for my living room.  I currently have off white plantation shutters on the windows, a burgundy shade of red on my leather couch and a black leather chair.

Hi Kathy,

You need to select a color that you l o v e and go with that.  Your furniture will be the focal point against any color, and my best advice is to use a nice neutral shade of grey, taupe or even pale yellow for the walls.  As for carpeting, you need to purchase something neutral (not busy) and something you want to live with for a long time.

Visit my web site at: Decor: I've written about it, planned it, designed it and colored it, and I've never stopped loving it. It's not what you spend, or who made it, it's how it makes you feel.

College, advertising, public relations, marketing, free-lance writing and a plethora of creative endeavors have led me here. As an entrepreneur in decorative product design, I learned the hard way how tough it can be to be in business for yourself. A stint at a law firm taught me humility too. Some three thousand questions ago, I wondered if I could really help. Obviously, I'm still here and still taking your questions. God Bless You!
