About Eileen Cronk
Expertise
If you are decorating your home on a budget I can answer most questions about what to look for when buying "good old stuff" at garage sales, yard sales or auctions. I can answer most questions about the refinishing, and repairing of wood items. I have had lots of experience in this area and made lots of mistakes over the years which I may help you avoid.

Experience
I have been haunting auction sales, flea markets etc. for 30 yrs. I have worked extensively at refinishing, and repairing all the old stuff I bring home. I also work for other people, and do repairs and refinishing for several antique stores.

Subject: I Need Help Decorating My Room!!!

Question
Okay so next month (February 4) is my 15th birthday and I would love to re-
decorate my room on a "budget". So here's my problem: My room is light
blue, I have slightly too big wooden furniture in my room, and my room is
slightly small because of the positioning of the furniture, note that I don't
want to change any of this though. So here's some stuff I would like to add
though: some new bed spreads, some wall collages, some shelves with some
decorative stuff on them, and reduce some of the clutter mainly with the old
clothes and some other stuff I don't need. So my question"s" are: What can I
do about the clutter? What colors can I add to my room to go with the light
blue walls and wooden furniture? And is any of the stuff I want to do possible
with a slightly small room?

Answer
Hi Nini
Nice to hear from you.
I got this question last night just as our power went down.
Sorry its late.
Nini I have a 14 and a 15 year old grandaughter so I know about this clutter.
You must keep it under control..LOL..at least thats what I tell my girls.
First go through your clothes. Seperate warm weather clothes from cold weather.
Put the warm weather ones away in those plastic tubs with lids we get at the Depot or hardware store. The tubs will then slide under the bed till needed.
I'll bet you have a dresser in your room.
And I'll bet Mom has told you the routine..socks and undies in one drawer, sweaters and blouses in another, jeans and pants in another.
That will take care of the clothes clutter.
Your idea of shelves is just great for a lot of your things.
They are very cheap to buy at the Depot.
The shelf board and 2 brackets come as a set. They just screw onto the wall.
You can add as many as the budget allows.
This should take care of the clutter.
With your light blue walls you have lots of color choices for spreads and accents.
Burgundy, dark blue and dusty rose would be my choices.
And wooden furniture goes with any color. Thats the beauty of it.
All the things you want to do are possible Nini.
Just dig in and get the clutter cleared first.
Good Luck and thank you for a great question.
Get back to me if I missed something.
Regards
Eileen
