About Eileen Cronk
Expertise
If you are decorating your home on a budget I can answer most questions about what to look for when buying "good old stuff" at garage sales, yard sales or auctions. I can answer most questions about the refinishing, and repairing of wood items. I have had lots of experience in this area and made lots of mistakes over the years which I may help you avoid.

Experience
I have been haunting auction sales, flea markets etc. for 30 yrs. I have worked extensively at refinishing, and repairing all the old stuff I bring home. I also work for other people, and do repairs and refinishing for several antique stores.

Subject: Painting over Gold

Question
I have a fairly new bedroom set.  I want to give it to my son, but I want to update it.  I wanted to change the Drawer Pulls to a more contemporary silver.  And, there is a gold strip across three drawers and the mirrors.  Very small.  I wondered if I could paint over it with silver paint?

Answer
Hi Sheree
Nice to hear from you.
My experience is you can paint over anything LOL.
But give it a try. Maybe a little test area.
If it wipes off after drying your out of luck.
Another idea is adding silver stripes.
"What the heck is she talking about?" I can hear you saying LOL.
Well if you go to the automotive section of most large stores, you can buy auto pin striping.
This comes in a roll like tape, has an adhesive back that you peel and stick.
It comes in lots of different widths and colors..silver for sure.
I have used it lots for different things besides cars.
Good luck and great question.
Kindest Regards
Eileen
