Experience As I stated, I have been a Def Leppard fan for over 25 years. My first exposure was when their first LP "On Through the Night" was released and it has never stopped. I have thousands of magazine articles, all LP's, cd's, dvd's, numerous books, tour programs and have seen them at least once on every tour in America, usually twice or more. I have had the priviledge of speaking to them briefly on the phone in the early 80's. I have followed the career of this band since they first broke the American radio waves.
Question my question about joe was what did he actually say about mexicans? When did he say it and has he ever talked about it since? Has he ever apolgized?I feel so very sadden to think I could have invested so many years and so much money on a racist! Im very hurt.sandra
Answer The incident in question happened in 1983, during the Pyromania tour. He said something to the effect of El Paso being the "place with all the greasy mexicans." Yes, he did apologize.
As I recall the whole ordeal (yes, I was a fan then) I believe he even said that he didn't realize it was a bad thing to say. He is, after all, from a different country and culture than Americans. That being said, I can only say the following.
It was a bad thing to say. He apologized. It was more than 20 years ago. In Def fashion....let it go.
