About Jeannine Lahey
Expertise
I can answer questions about jobs, restaurants, attractions, arts, sports and other information relating to Delaware. I am most familiar with Northern and Central Delaware, but I can probably assist you with questions about the Delaware beaches as well.

Experience
I am the former Guide for About's Wilmington/Newark site. Many of your questions concerning local attractions, housing options, employment resources, and much more can be answered by visiting http://allaboutdelaware.com. I have lived and worked in Delaware for about 6 years and I know the state fairly well.

Question
Hi! WE live in NJ and are planning to drive to Baltimore. Do you have any suggestions about a destination of interest on the way? (We could either sleep over there or just use it as a stopping point.)I LOVE to shop, see beautiful houses/scenery or just stop at a great scenic restaurant. We are going in Mid - October. Thank you. Rita

Answer
Hi,

I recommend visiting the Riverfront in Wilmington. Attractions include outlet shops, wonderful restaurants and you can enjoy a cruise on the River Taxi. There's also a new maritime art exhibition opening soon at the First USA Riverfront Arts Center. Visit this site for details. http://www.riverfrontwilmington.com/

Longwood Gardens is north of Wilmington, just over the DE border in Kennett Square, PA (off of Route 52) (http://www.longwoodgardens.com). Chadds Ford Winery is also nearby. (http://www.chaddsford.com/welcome/index.htm)

The scenery along Rte. 52 is beautiful (rolling hills, estate homes) and is referred to as "chateau country."

Have a great trip!

Jeannine
