Question
after deep cleaning and scaling 2 months ago I am now told it would be best if the back molars on each upper side were pulled because of bone loss, looseness and slow improvement of deep pockets.  My teeth are not loose.  I am 53 years old and wonder why I would agree to allowing 2 relatively sound teeth to be pulled?  How deep are too deep pockets?  One side is 10 and the other 5.  My gums are very healthy, no bad breath, I certainly cannot move my teeth with finger force. I do not have any dental insurance, and the office has set up a rather elaborate plan to save my teeth. This includes cleaning every 3 months, implants, etc.  I am having alot of reservations  about all this after some thought.  Please comment.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
In dentistry, doctors have many ways to solve one problem.
The best treatments depends on doctor patient communication.

Ask your dentist for two or thre treatment plans.

By the way, 10mm pocket depth is too deep for a molar (bad prognosis)
5mm is not deep

I can help you think in some possible alternatives if i have your panoramic xray.
