Dentistry/Deep Gum Treatment

Question
I have the first of 2 deep gum treatments on 11/4 and my dentist has given me 2 (TWO!) anti-biotics and a rinse to use.  The anti-biotics are pretty strong pills and, to be honest, seem 'overkill'.  I was just wondering if the treatment is a severe as I feel it is.  I mean, she has me worried about infection and pain.  Is all the pills and rinse so necessary?

Answer
every dentist does this a little differently. some use antibiotics, some do not. i often do use them. doing this gum work is a way of treating chronic infection and inflammation and getting rid of the bacteria is the ultimate goal. i would do what your dentist recommends and see how things work. you want to make sure that everything works to get you the best results. good luck
