Dentistry/Dental Implant - Side effects

Question
Hi Dr Mosery,

I had an dental implant inserted in July and am scheduled for the crown to be placed in December.

I started to experience rapid hair shedding in October, 3 mths after the implant.  Both my GP + dermatologist, ran routine blood test which returned normal, and diagnosed me with a condition known as Telogen Effluvium (no history pattern baldness in family).

I have read about potential titanium/mercury/ or general metal poisoning from dental implant procedures which can cause hair loss through long -slow exposure.  Is this a plausible cause for hair loss?

Thank you for your professional consideration.

Best,
David

Answer
I don't know where you got your information but it's definately not reliable.Titanium Dental implants as well as hip replacements, elbows, knees have been used since the 60's. If this was so they would not be approved for use. They're not experimental in nature.Look elswhere for your hair loss,it's not your fillings or your dental implant.
